Short or long weapons are assigned to a depot and an authorized person. After a successful identification, e.g. by fingerprint or ID badge the depot opens automatically. The employee removes the weapon and a magazine stored separately. At the end of the shift, the weapon and a magazine are returned to the assigned compartment. Optionally, the weapon can be equipped with an RFID tag, which allows the system to additionally recognize whether the correct weapon is in the compartment or not.
This ensures that the weapon is stored properly and safely. Only authorized persons have an access, and the electronic log is the proof of who has taken the weapon and when.
Personal emergency call devices are necessary means of communication and have to be operational at all times. Lack of operability caused by improper handling impedes the smooth flow of work and endangers the safety of staff. For this reason, the PNGs are kept in a charging cradle in the compartment to recharge the battery – this ensures that they are always functional.
In some facilities, it is also important to prevent employees from taking the weapon and cell keys with them. For this reason, the access control system makes a cross-check with the content of the handover depot when the employee leaves the premises. Only if all objects are properly deposited in the depot, the employee is allowed to leave the premises.
